Time spent with great friends!

Heeelllooo! I'm still here... I promised you a post of when our friends were visiting, here it is! I can't tell you how much fun we had with them {We miss you guys}. So where to start?! We found ourselves hanging out at one of our favorite little spots here in Pardubice called Cafe Bajer. They have the most amazing hot chocolate ever. I wanted to share with you how they serve it. A side of whip cream with powdered chocolate sugar on top, a caramel waffer and a cup of hot choco. Delicious!

Our corner table at Cafe Bajer.

A picture with the owner.

Pardubice is the capital for pernik in the region. It's a gingerbread style cookie which was first documented in 1335 in the town of Trutnov. There are stores all over town selling these. We went to every single shop. Apparently, they aren't meant to be eaten, just to be given as a gift. However, we opened a few perniks and ate them. If you get a fresh one, they are real yummy!

Melissa with her fancy Czech pastry (pernik).

There's a saying: "Salt is worth more than gold". Who knows if that's true lol! Anywho, we went to a salt cave. It was our first time and we enjoyed it. It was peaceful and quiet with a little music, glittering crystals of salt and coloured lights. It gave us a chance to relax in a room full of negative ions for one hour. You can meditate, listen to music, breath deeply or sleep. I read that it's beneficial to your health.
-Let's you forget the stress and strain of life
-Works out the same as 2-3 days by the seaside
-High level of bacteriological purity
-Ample moisture
-Halotherapy
-Minerals have a beneficial effect on the skin to smooth wrinkles and cellulite
-Cleanse toxins
-Good for athletes to recharge their mineral reserves
-and the list goes on...

One word..... CREPES! They are the best tasting treats.

My banana and nutella crepe!

We were real happy with our crepes. Now we won't tell you exactly how many we had lol!!!!!

Another precious Czech dessert, the trdelnik which I blogged about before (here).

We were able to catch a home game while our friends were here. We also followed the bus and went to an away game in Plzen 2 1/2 hrs away. It was a blast!!

Per below, we had great seats at the away game. Front row and right behind our team bench. We were so close to the players that I could smell them, ugh! I'm totally kidding. I couldn't smell them lol! This was so much fun and we won. Yay!

At Cafe Bajer once again :) Wondering what the guys are doing..? They are playing a game "Spin-your-wedding-ring-on-the-table-as-long-as-you-can". Yup, that's how we, at times, keep busy here HA! HA!

We also tried to play the piano at Cafe Bajer but that didn't go so well :\

We ate at U Zlate Konvice in Prague. It's a popular basement restaurant located right in the Old Town Square. It was unique. I kinda felt like I was at my aunt & uncle's camp. Deer heads, bears and animal skin on the walls, etc...

At U Zlate Konvice restaurant. I'm guessing the atmosphere must be better on the weekends but we were in great company :)

A hot mojito to-go pleeaaaase!

Absinth Shop.

We kept seeing bottles of Absinth everywhere in Prague. We wondered what it was... Well, there's a story behind it in wikipedia. This drink has a chemical substance called "thujone" in it which apparently makes you go crazy. The bottle had a name on it "Vincent van Gogh". I googled him also. He was an artist who used vivid colors in his work. Did Absinth make him cut off a piece of his ear and finally shoot himself in the stomach?! Many scientists studied his case. Thought it was interesting.

About to cross the historical Charles Bridge in Prague. Ahhh I miss them!

After several steps (like a hundred), we reached the Prague Castle. It was spectacular up there! We were able to walk the grounds, see the city from an amazing view and take lots of pictures.

The hubs and I in the Saint Vitus Cathedral. Just breathtaking! We are in the main Cathedral located within the Castle. Well worth walking up those stairs and visiting!! The castle is one of the biggest castles in the world according to Guinness Book of Records (Biggest Ancient Castles).

So as you can see, we had an amazing time with our friends! It was fun, refreshing, we laughed a lot, explored Pardubice and Prague, ate, ate and ate and oh! we shopped ;) T'was awesome!!!

Looks like you had a great time! We actually had Absinthe at our wedding...I'm not sure that it is made with the certain product that makes you go crazy anymore. If so, then it had no affect on me HA!

Wow that sounds lik an awesome visit. I love crepes and nutella and banana are my favorite fillings. Also since you are not in the US its a must to try absinth if you never had. It's illegal in the States but not in Europe and it won't make you go crazy but you might see some really crazy stuff. LOL It's an experience for sure. I'm so glad you had a great time with your friends.
