Just one of those days...

...when I'm missing our house, our truck, our families, our friends, english, french! Our slingbox recently stopped working so there goes our TV. I'm tired of listening to Czech television which I don't understand. Our 2nd laptop died, so we're down to one computer - not easy. Off to dinner with the hubs. Would be better if they would ban smoking here! Well, there you have it folks. My saturday night venting HA!
Have a good one ;)

Sorry it's been "one of those days" but I totally could see how you could be missing all the GREAT things from FL!!
Sometimes it's hard to appreciate the experience because we miss how life used to be!
Look around....YOU'RE IN THE CZECH REBUBLIC!! haha :)

sending american vibes to you! That's crazy, my brother told me about the prevalent smoking! even a little girl that had to hold her dad's hand to cross the street was smoking! Is that your house back home? Gorgeous :)

Thanks for all the blog lovin' everyone!!

Petra, the laptop turns on but I think the bulb is burnt so you can't see anything on the screen. It's all black.

Jo, you got it right. Just one of those days. My Czech vocabulary is getting a little bigger every week. But I find learning another language is quite difficult. Thanks for your thoughts xox

I'm sick of the smoking too. But apparently nobody cares about non-smokers. It's either "handle it" or "go home". There are restaurants and pubs where they have a room for smokers and room for non-smokers but that's just not enough. I wish they did something about it...

How rich is your vocab now? Czech is difficult, isn't it? :)

What model is it? In newer ones is possible to change the bulb.
Did You try to move with display few times? Sometimes it's just bad contact.

P. S.: Hope You'll feel better soon.

Michaela, my vocabulary is very basic; (ahoj, děkuji, ano, ne, velmi dobrý, jaké je vaše jméno, kolik?, dobrou noc, nechápu,na shledanou, jak se máte). I have a hard time remembering these haha! Yes, it's very difficult. One little letter difference and it's a whole new word.

Petra, it's a 2005 Gateway. We've tried playing with it. Moving the screen, rebooting and easy stuff like that but that's where our technical side ends ha! At first, the screen would flash on/off but now it simply doesn't turn on. Maybe the wires?! I'm not sure.

I asked my acquaintance who has a computer shop what to do with it and he said, that to repair this is more expensive than price of whole laptop is, but to save data is quite easy.
Cause his shop isn't in Pardubice, i'd like to recommend that guy Michal, he looks he might handle it.
But it's of course all up to You, You choose the way You solve it.

P. S.: Your czech looks good, you learn it by Yourself?

The laptop "no video" problem is difficult. It can be problem with cable contact, RAM memory, CPU...sometimes helps only RAM reseating, but that is cause for a PC repairist. I can try to fix it,but i don't know about result :-D Every laptop is different and i don't know if my 3y experience is sufficient :)

What OS do you have on it? I have an idea: we can go to some pub to watch live away game against Liberec at November, 2nd. I'll bring some tools and try to fix it.And we can go with Michaela,...? :)

That my acquaintance is very experienced in repairing PC's and all stuff around that, so if Michal founds it repairable and will not feel to do it by himself he could do it (don't want to look like i don't trust to Michal, cause i quite do :-D ).

I've worked in Foxconn CZ for 3 years as a PC repair and test engineer for desktops, notebooks and workstations.I fixed lot of PCs because it was a mass production. Maybe i have some experience :) If i don't fix it, at least I'll tell you why it's broken. Moreover, it's my hobby :)
