I walk our dog Shadow around Pardubice every day. I don't like to take the same path so I switch it up. This week, I came across the "Veverka Cousin Statue". They invented the plow in 1823. It's an interesting story cuz another man tried to take credit for their unpatented invention. Francis and Vaclav both died in poverty the same year - 1849. The investigation for this dispute was resolved in 1883 where the Veverka Cousin got authorship for the plow. This city is so rich in history... I have much more stories to come!
On our street, there is a store called "US Fashion Store". They sell clothes which includes brands such as; Guess, Abercombie & Fitch, Tommy Hilfiger, etc...
It was a very quiet morning walk on our city streets.. It's cuz today, October 28, is Independent Czechoslovak State Day (or Independence Day in Czech Republic). The day the foundation declared independence from the Hapsburg Empire at the end of World War I.

that's funny how all the streets are empty everytime a national day comes :)
this morning, i've read a few articles about what happened 92 years ago and i'm a little prouder for being a Pardubice citizen
Hi I've been reading your blog and it sounds like we like some of the same TV shows. I watched Pretty Little Liars as well and Gossip Girl is like my weekly soap opera. I love that show. This season is going to get pretty crazy. Are you able to watch in there? I have to download it from iTunes weekly because I don't get that channel on my tv in Iraq :( but either way I still get to see it. Anyways I hope you have a good day and a great rest of the week. I look forward to reading more about your adventures.
Isn't it just great to explore new places?? i absolutely love it! That's so funny that theres a US FASHION STORE! haha... kind of cool though! Is it up to date at all? or all past seasons? Yes they do SORTA celebrate halloween here.. Nothing really big, but one of the guys and his gf on the team are having a party for everyone.. And Jocke's brother is going to one.. but there isn't treat or treating or anything like that.. :( oh well though! We'll do our best to have fun with it! :) Hope you have a great day!!! xoxo
I love seeing all your photos!! It looks like such a nice place to be living..it appears much slower and laid back than life is here in the US. I think it's funny they have US FASHIONS...we have friends in Russia that occassionally ask us to send some clothes to their little girl. They say US clothing is such a big deal there...crazy isn't it? Have a great weekend!
I love that the store name is US Fashion Store lol
